Malty, aromatic beers. Belgian ales rank high on my list.

Black as tar pour with a clumpy tan head.
Smoky aroma with some soft fruit undertones. Apricot or peach with a hint of apple. Very pleasant this aroma.
Full, rich, creamy mouth feel. Very thick but not cloying.
Complex flavors here. The smoky aroma comes through in the taste and so does the fruit. There is also some earthiness and the finish is a lemony citrus that tops it off just right. I am so surprised that the alcohol taste isn't at all noticeable. Once again I wish I had more. The good ones come to our area in small batches and disappear quickly.

Ölvisholt Brugghús - Lava
A thick and rocky dark tan head on a viscous black beer. Looks wonderful in the glass.
Light peat smoke aroma with hints of fruit (peach maybe) and licorice.
Feel is very full and rich, creamy and chewy. Wonderful mouthfeel.
Taste is much milder than I expected, very well blended flavours of peat smoke, lemon grass, mild roasted malts (not burned) and peach. Hints of licorice and a stronger smoke taste linger in the finish and last a long time.
I like this one a lot. The tastes are full, rich and complex and the blending of flavours is almost perfect.
I only wish th LCBO had gotten more of them in, the product is already discontinued for this year at least.
