Burnished copper with a short lived head.
Nice orange citrus aroma.
Citrus, earth and a strong hop start with a heavy grapefruit like sourness in the middle and at the finish.
This is a fine example of an American pale ale.

A full thick white head which reduces to a clumpy layer. The beer is a dark golden colour with a light haze, could be chill haze.
The aroma is citrus hops with a hint of licorice. A very faint earthy aroma comes through as it warms.
Feel is full and rich with a bright sparkling carbonation feel.
Tastes have a nice doughy malt base with a sharp citrus tang. Lot's of grapefruit, a bit of earth and just a hint of licorice in the background.
The start is moderately sweet but the citrus hop tastes kick in almost immediately and give a grapefruit middle. The finish displays the earth and licorice beneath the bright bitter hops.
A great warm weather beer, I just had it with some grilled spicy sausage and grilled mixed veggies on a nice spring like day and the strong hop profile blended and enhanced the food wonderfully. The hops cut through the oily sausages and allowed all the tastes to blend nicely.
I think I will lay in a stock of this stuff for the BBQ season.

Anchor Brewing Liberty Ale

Lot's of white foam, a dark yellow colour.
Aroma is pine and grapefruit.
Taste is very grapefruit. Not nearly enough malt base in this.
It demonstrates what the Americans are doing with over-hopped beer. I don't care for it much, one is more than enough, no way I could drink this all evening.
Needs a lot more sweet malt taste.
