Barley Days Yuletide Cherry Porter

This one is a "keeper".
A thick, long lasting, coarse, tan coloured head on a very dark red/brown coloured beer.
This one should be consumed at "Cellar" Temperature, around 15°C.
The aroma is light, there are scents of cherry, honey, and a hint of earthiness.
The mouthfeel is quite thick and creamy as you would expect from a porter.
I found a great blend of tastes here, my first impression was of some coffee or bitter chocolate which seemed to linger beneath a nice subtle cherry citrus flavour. The citrus tingle lingered a long while and was very pleasant.
There were some hints of earthiness below the cherry which helped to blend the tastes together.
As I sipped at this beer the cherry seemed to come more to the front, still quite subtle but more definite.

This is a great "winter warmer", as I drank it (in the middle of August) I could almost picture myself sitting in front of a roaring fire on Christmas eve after the kids are finally asleep and enjoying a couple of these.

I think I will be making a trip to Barley Days in the late fall to get in a supply of this one.

Beer Quote of the day

It is better to think of church in the ale-house than to think of the ale-house in church.
