Corporal's Bitter Brown Ale

Disappointing! Pours a dark amber with a short lived white head and some nice lace. That's where it all stops!
The aroma is all charcoal and so is the taste. I feel like I'm drinking charcoal in a glass. This is not pleasant. I've been to their Brewery and I know they make quality stuff. I just hope I got a bad batch!

What???

Either your taste has gone straight down the tubes (which wouldn't surprise me, knowing your usual swill) or you must have got a bad bottle.
This beer is way above the norm and has all kinds of tastes.
I suggest you try it again before you burn out your tastebuds on Yankee Jim or some such swill.

I'll try again.

I have another bottle in the fridge. I'll let you know.

Corporal's Bitter Brown Ale

Pours a slightly cloudy dark amber with a huge slightly off-white head which just wont stop.
The aroma is lightly citrus with earth and toast.
Feel is nicely rich and full,
Taste is lovely, a woodsey, earthy base with a lot of roasted malt flavour and a nice citrusy tang to it. The roasted barley provides notes of bitter chocolate and coffee and is quite noticeable and much more pronounced than I would expect from such a light coloured beer. There are some hints of raisin and date in the finish blended nicely with the grapefruit citrus hop flavours. The light finish makes it a great warm weather brew and the roasted barley gives it a very full taste with lots of body. I'll be looking for this again.
