Dieu du Ciel - Solstice d'Hiver
Pours a very dark red/brown, against the light it is cloudy and garnet coloured, a thin head, slightly off white which leaves a ring and a touch of lace.
Aroma of raisins, plums, grapefruit citrus and alcohol.
Feel is very rich and creamy with a light alcohol burn.
Taste is quite full, lot's of toasted grain tastes amid various dark berries, raisins, plums, blackberries all come through. A light earthiness and a nice clean orangy citrus finish. The lingering aftertaste reminds me of port wine, or maybe sherry.
I like this one a lot, as a barley wine it has a lot of flavour going for it and makes a great sipping beer to enjoy while I watch the snowplow grind by for about the fourth time in the last two hours.

Pours a very deep red with bits floating in it. The head is almost non existent and it leaves no lace. Hmmm!
There is honey, soft fruit and some alcohol and a bit of earth in the aroma.
Full almost cloying mouth feel followed immediately by a citrus bite that washes that away.
I get mostly alcohol at the start with some honey sweetness and some fruitiness but a nice clean citrus finish. I like this but since moderation has never been my strong suit I will stop at one.

Dieu du Ciel - Solstice d'Hiver
It's been awhile but I'm back.
Pours a very dark red with bits floating around in it. Hard to tell it's quite cloudy. Very thin off white head but lots of lace when it is gone.
Quite a fruity aroma. Soft fruit like plums and perhaps apricots with a hint of citrus and some alcohol. In the back there is also the slight smell of burned wood. Maybe it's just me.
Full and rich. It has a very nice creaminess.
Soft fruit and berries hit me right away and that burnt wood flavor is there as well as in the aroma. I like it. Not quite like burnt caramel but more like wood. It finishes nicely with some citrus and just the right touch of alcohol to round it out. Very nice.
