Duchy Originals Organic Ale

This one has some interesting history about it.
Prince Charles (Who is very "into" organic farming) is one of the original sponsors of the brew.
One of the foundations of his organic interests is the "Home Farm" which is supposed to be all organic, and some of the ingredients for this beer come from that farm. The rest are supposed to be from other certified organic farms.

Now let's find out how it stacks up.

It is a nice dark amber with orange tints, clear but with a hint of chill haze.
The head is moderate, dense, white, and long lasting.
Aroma is quite lively with a lot of hop citrus, some malt notes, a hint of alcohol and a deep earthiness.
Feel is quite full and creamy.
Taste is what we are after and this is not half bad.
It is a fairly full and well rounded taste profile with a solid moderately sweet malt base and some growing hop citrus tastes. They are not dominating and seem to be fairly well blended to match the malt. A light sour taste is present throughout the taste.
There is a dry earthiness present throughout the taste profile and a light mouth-drying finish with enough carbonation sparkle to set this off well.

As it warms a bit the tastes develop some resemblance to many Belgian ales with hints (very faint) of cloves, vanilla, and banana. They are very subdued, but quite interesting.

This would be great beer with a beef dinner. Should compliment the flavours very nicely.

I'd drink this anytime I could find it.

A thick head but id didn't last long. It was white and left a few clumps on top of the beer.
The beer is a bit cloudy, a dark orangy copper colour.
It smells a little spicey and a bit citrusy.
It tastes like citrus and cloves (like in a mincemeat pie), I guess that means some fruit in there as well. It is really very good. I like it. The tastes all seem to fit together somehow. I don't think I ever had a beer that tasted like cloves before but this one does and it is quite good.

Made by the Prince of Wales own company, by God, it must be good.

It's got a lovely big head, not quite white.
The beer is a beautiful cloudy shade of orange colour.
The aroma is of good British hops and malt, some fruit smells as well, like fresh berries.
The taste is what it is all about, lots of berry and grass with some grapefruit citrus. Just a touch of citrus.
I could drink this all day. It's so refreshing.
Go get some.

Beer Quote of the day

I'd like us to deliver a little message to all the men still out there who think it's the '50s, and coming home simply means watching television with a beer.
