Fuller's 2008 Vintage Ale

Vintage 2008 Batch No. 90366

A full but thin white head which lasts well. The colour of this ale is beautiful, a slightly hazy pink/amber.
The aroma is quite sweet with malt and a nice grapefruit citrus hit.
Feel is quite full, round and creamy with a light rough bite at the end.
Taste is much like the aroma, starting with a honey malt sweetness overlain with a grapefruit citrus tang. There are hints of spices, maybe pepper and cloves with some grass or fresh hay tastes. Very pleasant and full. There is a faint hint of alcohol in the finish which is mostly the honey sweetness. The taste lingers nicely and pleasantly.

The colour of this beer is something to see. I can't help wondering what this would taste like after ageing for a year or two. Age would probably smooth out the whole taste profile and most certainly would ease the rough edges on the feel. The tastes would blend even more and produce something smoother and better than it already is.

Think I will try to put a bottle or two aside with the rest of my collection and try it again in a year or so.

Beer Quote of the day

I simply went down there to catch up with an old mate of mine, who owns the place. He's the one who wrote the book on the place, but no, no movie, just a beer.

A great Aussie actor and beer. That says it all.
