BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
Galt Knife Old Style Lager
Galt Knife Old Style Lager
A Lager with lots of flavour!
Pours with a thick creamy white head that leaves a lot of lace on the glass.
The colour is a slightly cloudy dark amber.
Aroma is fairly faint, some grass and hard water aromas.
Feel is lovely rich and creamy, not at all like a mainstream lager feel
Tastes have a lot of hop presence. A hint of citrus in the hop profile, and a nice bitter dryness to finish. There is still a solid malt sweetness with hints of caramel to form a base but the hop tastes predominate.
A great BBQ beer. A hot day and a burger or steak and one of these!
I had a sample of this last summer and in my memory, at least, the hop profile was even higher then. I think they might be using a different hop variety now, a bit more subtle than I remember but still pronounced and producing a lager with a true depth of taste.
Going to have to visit Grand River Brewing more often.

Pleasant smoky aroma. Have never come across a smell like that in an ale. Flowery with a bit of citrus flavor. Nice clean bitter after taste. Another great blend of hops and malt, (or bitter and sweet). All in all another great beer, not quite as good a blend as the Fullers ESB.
This is what Fuller's has to say about this beer:
"London Pride is a smooth and astonishingly complex beer, which has a distinctive malty base complemented by a rich balance of well developed hop flavours from the target, challenger and northdown varieties in the brew. At 4.1% a.b.v in cask (4.7% a.b.v in bottles)London Pride is an ideal session-strength premium ale."
