BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
Griffon Extra Blonde.
Griffon Extra Blonde
Full white head, short lived but leaving a lot of lace.
The beer is a light amber colour.
It has an aroma which is simply malt and hop, with a bit of earthiness. It reminds me of the aromas of Canadian mainstream beers from the sixties.
The first thing that hit me was the creamy mouth feel, not at all watery.
The taste is quite earthy, it's a simple but full blend of malt and hops with a slight biscuit taste mixed with a bit of earth and a light citrus finish. The hop bitterness is very pronounced and there is a subtle sweetness which lies just below the surface.
The aftertaste is quite light and pleasant, it leaves a sparkle of carbonation on the tongue which is quite pleasing.
All in all, this beer brought back memories of what most Canadian "mainstream" beers used to taste like before the big brewers decided that most people really did not like the taste of beer.
I will buy this one again whenever I feel nostalgic.
