Holsten Premium Lager

A yellow beer with a very thin short lived white head.
The aroma is very faint, perhaps a bit earthy but not much else.

Feel is fairly thin, maybe just a bit creamy.
Earthy tastes, some honey and a light bitterness. A hint of flowers ans some faint dough tastes.

Not much to this one, a bit more taste than North American mainstream and I like the earthy undertones but I certainly wont go looking for this again.

Faxe Extra Strong Beer

A thin and short lived white head on a golden amber coloured beer.
The aroma is quite sweet with honey and a strong alcohol aroma.
Feel is pleasantly rich and creamy.
Taste starts with some corn and honey sweetness, the alcohol taste is quite strong. Some light citrus hop tastes are in there but mostly buried by the alcohol, a light buttery taste comes through as the beer warms slightly.
It bears a faint resemblance to some Belgian Trappist style ales but does not have anything like the depth of flavours or the subtleties that a good Abbey Ale presents.

At 10% it is certainly not a session beer, it does have enough flavour to stand up against some fairly strong tasting foods and eating would be essential if you were going to have more than one of these.

Strong, cheap, tastes bad, gets you loaded quick. You get what you pay for and it does its job well.

Faxe Extra Strong Beer

Not much head at all, the beer is a slightly dark yellow without much carbonation.
It smells sweet and full of alcohol.
The taste is a lot the same. A syrup in the background and a strong alcohol taste on top.
Not much too it except its strength.

Demands to be drank at room or fridge temperature.
Tried it in a frosted mug and was turned off by an aftertaste that resembled grain alcohol.
As the beer warms the aroma takes on apple and honey characteristics.
Tastes of corn and barley.
Works well with salty food.
It's a treat - in small amounts.
