Howe Sound, Devil's Elbow India Pale Ale
1st a note about the bottle. It is a 1 Litre Swing top but it came capped with your standard beer bottle cap. A great idea because it makes sure the beer is fresh and easily transportable and gives you a way to easily keep a portion for later, and let's face it, 1 Litre is quite a bit of beer.
This poured with a huge, coarse, thick off-white head which slowly reduced to some lovely thick clumps. The brew itself was a nice cloudy red/amber colour.
The aroma was citrus, biscuit and a hint of sour.
Feel is very creamy and rounded with a nice sparkle on top.
The tastes are strongly grapefruit and grass citrus with an earthy undertone. There is a solid doughy base to hold everything up with a light sweetness in the middle.
The finish is mostly grapefruit and grass with a deep earthiness which lingers for a while.
This beer is a mostly English style IPA with American style hops. The flavours are pronounced but strongly influenced by the British traditions. A great IPA.

Hitachino Nest White Ale A pale yellow color with a clumpy but short lived head. Spices and banana are all I can detect in the aroma. Full rich creamy mouth feel. This is nice. Lots of spice and banana with some hints of pepper. Easy drinking but also very flavorfull. I wish I had more but alas that is not to be with Japan still in shambles.
