Innis & Gunn Triple Matured Oak Aged Beer
Innis & Gunn Triple Matured Oak Aged Beer
Pours a very dark red/brown colour, against the light it comes through as a chestnut colour.
Head is quite thin, slightly off white and leaves a ring around the top of the glass but very little lacing.
Aroma seems to be dark berries (raisins and dates) with hints of coffee and vanilla.
Feel is slightly on the watery side. The colour had me expecting something fuller in the feel.
Taste is raisin, toffee, vanilla and a touch of dark chocolate. There is a noticeable oak tannin taste which is more like a feel than a taste, quite dry. A faint hint of alcohol comes through and a light citrus flavour to offset the sweetness.
I have found that some of the Innis & Gunn offerings are too sweet for me to truly enjoy, this one is much better. The oak comes through mostly as a dry tannin feel in the finish and the caramel tastes are quite subdued this time, the dark berry flavour is more prominent.
Not too bad at all.
