BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
IPA (India Pale Ale)
English style India Pale Ale.
In general India pale ales are very hoppy, bitter, and higher alcohol content beer.
The high alcohol (now they are found in ranges from about 3.5% to 7%, traditionally they were 6% to 8%) and hop content was used to preserve the beer for shipment to India.
Usually a dark golden colour, often with hints of orange or red, they usually have a thick slightly off white head and are full of flavour.
A strong malt base is needed to offset the hop content and this gives the beer fruity, berry, and bready flavours.
The hops provide a strong mouth drying bitterness which often lingers in the finish.
