Koningshoeven Quadrupel Trappist Ale
An orange/pink/amber colour, a bit cloudy but very attractive looking with a thick and rocky but short lived off-white head.
The aroma is quite pronounced. Berries and earth with a hint of alcohol. There is a sweetness to the aroma like honey.
The feel is very rich and creamy. Lots of body with a nice tingle to it.
The tastes are full and rich. Lot's of berry flavours with a honey overtone. Some sugar like flavours come through, just below an alcohol bite, and there is a great well blended citrus bitterness. The finish has some flavours of chocolate and cream, very nice and very full.
A great cold weather beer, I am now a true fan of those Trappist monks. They really know how to make excellent beer which I guess should not be a surprise, they have been developing their craft for a very long time.

Koningshoeven Quadrupel Trappist Ale
Another of these wonderful Trappist beers. I found it at the LCBO and grabbed it quick.
It has a very big tan coloured head and it started to disappear quickly but never went away completely.
The beer is a cloudy dark amber almost brown colour.
It smells like fruit cake, lots of alcohol (like rum) and raisins.
The taste is just great!
Raisins and berries with a bit of coffee. It is so full feeling that it is like eating it instead of drinking it.
There is a real sweetness like candy in there and some light bitterness which I guess is the hops.
The alcohol taste is also on top.
I like these Belgians!
Hope I can find more of them (their beers I mean).
