Lakes of Muskoka - Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout (Winter Beard)
Pours very dark brown, almost black, creamy looking pour with a huge and lasting tan head.
Aroma of chocolate, molasses and berries. Might be cranberry but I really can't tell.
The feel is very rich and creamy, chewy and almost a meal on it's own.
Tastes are wonderful, First a creamy milk chocolate with touches of coffee, A bit of molasses and a good hit of dark berry flavour. Still can't tell if it's cranberry or not but it is good. A touch of light grapefruit bitterness comes through late and lasts a long while, without it the beer would be too sweet but the citrus cleans things up nicely.
The lingering aftertaste is quite dry and clean. Very nice.
The 8% could fool you in this one because it is certainly not noticeable.
A great after dinner drink on a cold (or at least very cool) evening. I'm going to be picking up more for the long winter ahead.

Hitachino Nest White Ale A pale yellow color with a clumpy but short lived head. Spices and banana are all I can detect in the aroma. Full rich creamy mouth feel. This is nice. Lots of spice and banana with some hints of pepper. Easy drinking but also very flavorfull. I wish I had more but alas that is not to be with Japan still in shambles.
