Les Trois Mousquetaires - Porter Baltique
Pours very black with a huge dark tan coloured head.
Aroma of dark berries (raisins and dates), alcohol and earth. Hints of coffee and chocolate.
Feel is very rich and creamy, chewy. Very nice.
Taste is great. Starts with milk chocolate and berries, I get raisins, dates and a touch of apricot. Middle is a light citrus, quite a bright taste in such a heavy beer. Finish is a touch of alcohol along with the lingering citrus taste. Very well blended, all the tastes fit together and work with each other.
This is a fairly heavy beer and I don't want more than one at a time but for an after dinner drink on a cold evening this is great.
There is enough sweetness in there to make it warming, and the hint of alcohol doesn't hurt the warming either. The bright citrus and berry taste are enough to offset the sweet and bring the whole beer together.

Hitachino Nest White Ale A pale yellow color with a clumpy but short lived head. Spices and banana are all I can detect in the aroma. Full rich creamy mouth feel. This is nice. Lots of spice and banana with some hints of pepper. Easy drinking but also very flavorfull. I wish I had more but alas that is not to be with Japan still in shambles.
