BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
McNally's Winter Spice Ale
Big Rock Winter Spice Ale
No head at all but the beer is clear dark amber in colour and looks pretty inviting.
The aroma is full of cloves, that's all I can detect. Anything else in there is overwhelmed.
The feel is very rich and creamy.
Taste is lots of cloves with maybe a bit of coriander and a very light sour touch. There are some solid biscuit malt tastes under the spice but they are hard to dig out. There IS a very light citrus hop taste in there which helps to offset the spice a bit.
This beer gets better as it warms, the overwhelming clove tastes start to settle into the background a bit but the other tastes don't jump in to fill the gaps although the light sour tastes become a bit more prominent.
This is not a bad winter beer but not outstanding either. The spice flavours pretty much overpower everything else. A bit more subtlety would have been appreciated.

Hitachino Nest White Ale A pale yellow color with a clumpy but short lived head. Spices and banana are all I can detect in the aroma. Full rich creamy mouth feel. This is nice. Lots of spice and banana with some hints of pepper. Easy drinking but also very flavorfull. I wish I had more but alas that is not to be with Japan still in shambles.
