Mill Street Barley Wine - 2011

Pours slightly cloudy light chestnut with a thin but lasting, slightly off white head.
Aroma of light alcohol, fruit, maybe apple, raisins, and earth with a light sour note.

Feel is wonderfully smooth, rich, and creamy, like a good Port.
Taste starts out with a strong toast, berry and raisin flavour,  Hints of peach and apple come through followed by a brown sugar sweetness. Very nice. The middle is quite a lot like Port, with a sweetness and almost cloying taste but the finish cleans this up very nicely, a long lasting citrus tingle on the tongue and a bright cider cleanness to it.
I like this years better than last years. It has such a clean finish that you just want more. A great after dinner drink on a cold evening. I suspect this would be even better after aging a few years, it certainly has the body for it. I intend to put a couple away for a while and see how it works out.

Beer Quote of the day

Bart: "Can I get you a beer, Dad?" Lisa: "No, I want to get him a beer!"
Homer: "Kids, kids. You can BOTH get me a beer."

— The Simpsons

(My kind of family, but I want at least a dozen kids!)
