Muskoka Brewery - Harvest Ale - 2011

Pours dark copper, very slightly cloudy with a full and creamy tan coloured head.
Aroma is all over the place, in a good way. Some dough and earth, hay, floral and faint citrus notes, and I catch a hint of black pepper. Light touches of caramel.

Feel is very full and creamy.
Tastes start with a bright grapefruit and orange citrus flavour on top of a dough and caramel base. honey, earth, hay and dark berry flavours are blended in there. The finish has notes of the grapefruit but a more floral flavour lingers.
This is a really great beer. Lot's of flavours all blended well but all still noticeable. Glad it comes in a bomber cause I want more than 1 glass of this one.

Spitfire Kentish Ale

A medium thick and slightly off-white head which leaves a thin clumpy cap on a dark amber and clear beer.
The aroma has some malty sweetness and a very faint hint of vanilla along with some peppery spice aromas.
The feel is full, rich, and creamy.
Tastes start quite fruity with raisins and date flavours. There is a bit of honey and quite a bit of citrus hoppiness. A faint touch of vanilla comes through as well. The sweet fruity flavours lead the way, and the spicy citrus bitterness brings up the finish. A very bright tasting ale.

I love the name and their slogan "Spitfire, The Bottle of Britain". Shame the "Bottle" is such a clumpy looking thing, The "Spit" was such a sleek and streamlined machine. Oh, well, can't have everything and the beer is not bad at all.

Spitfire Kentish Ale

Dark amber colour with a bit of pink in it.
Lot's of white head.

Ah, traditional English Ale.
Lot's of barley tastes with some bright bitterness to it.
A full bodied ale that has a lot more flavour than most of what you can get here.

Never mind all the different tastes, I don't care. I just like a lot of flavour in my beer and this has it.
Keep your lousy tasteless lagers.

I agree that most of what you find here in Ontario are not great lagers. They are made for people who don't really like the taste of beer, but not all lagers are like that. A good one is crisp, clean, and full of flavour. You need to search a bit more. I do like the Spitfire though.
