Neustadt 10w30

A vigorous but short lived tan coloured head on a very dark brown/red coloured beer.
The aroma is all roasted and toasted malts with some molasses and a hint of citrus.
Smells appetizing.
Feel is full, rich and creamy, almost as thick feeling as a milkshake.
Tastes are mostly about the roasted malts. The entire beer is about the malts with enough citrus hops to finish it off and keep it from being too sweet.
There are a lot of bread tastes and honey, chocolate, molasses and toast comes through strongly.
A hint of licorice can be found if you look for it. The grapefruit citrus tastes come through mostly in the finish.

This is a great filling English dark ale. I really enjoy all the malt tastes but it would be even better on a cold late fall day. Early and finally warming spring is probably not the best time of year for this one.
I am using it in a steak marinade for supper this evening, we'll see how that turns out.

I had the steaks with another beer and the flavours blended wonderfully, the sweet malt from the beer with the extra brown sugar from the marinade went together nicely while the hop tang was enough to cut the fat in the steak.
I enjoyed my meal.
