BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
Pietra
Pietra Amber
A very thin and short lived white head on a dark amber and slightly orange tinted beer.
The aroma is a bit different. Some chestnuts and aged or rotted wood in there.
Like I said, very different and I am not sure I want to drink this one.
Oh well, here goes.
A very thick and creamy feel.
The taste lives up to the aroma but is not near as bad as it smelled. In fact it is rather good and certainly different.
There is a definite dark wood taste about this along with a bit of sweetness. The overall flavour even has a hint of smokiness about it.
Some citrus hops come through closer to the finish but the sweet chestnut flavour is still predominant.
The label does say that it is made with chestnut flour so I guess this is the taste they were aiming for. Just not for me.
There is a kind of dessert like flavour about this beer and I suspect it would be an acquired taste.
I don't think I will have enough of them to acquire that taste.

Pietra
Dark amber with a thin white head.
Not much aroma, just a bit of biscuit and pepper.
Berry and citrus sweetness with what tastes like corn but is probably the chestnut flour they use to make it.
It is very easy to drink but has no complexity and not a whole lot of flavor. One step up from the Macros.
