Riggwelter Strong Yorkshire Ale

A dark Garnet coloured ale with a medium sized, rocky, slightly off-white head.
The aroma is quite malty with lot's of sweet smells like honey, hay, berries and molasses. There is a nice bright citrus aroma which sits up high on the nose.
The feel is very thick and rich.
Tastes are much like the aroma. Lots os sweet malt tastes. Honey, biscuit and fresh hay. Berries and a hint of coffee or bitter chocolate round this beer out nicely. The hops come through very strongly as a bright bitterness like orange peel with a hint of grapefruit.
Aftertaste is largely the hops and is very pleasant and mouth watering.
I must admit that I was a little worried at the first sip. It took me a while to adjust to the taste profile. Once I did, though, I just kept wanting more. If you try this one be sure to give it a fair trial. The bitterness from this particular hop blend can be a bit disconcerting at first but it grows on you.
It also goes really well with a variety of cheeses, especially the harder dryer types like Asiago or Parmesan. I suspect it would be really impressive with English Fish and Chips.

Riggwelter Strong Yorkshire Ale

Weak coffee color.
Malty citrus aroma.
Coffee, chocolate and a citrus pith bitterness to start.
Creamy mouth feel with a lingering sharp citrus taste at the end.
This would be very nice on a warm summer day.
Cheese makes a big difference as far as the pithy citrus bite is concerned. Asiago works very well, brie does not.

Beer Quote of the day

What I like about playing America is you can be pretty sure you're not going to get hit with a full can of beer when you're singing and I really enjoy that!
