Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout
A lovely and lasting thick tan coloured head on a black creamy rich looking stout beer.
The aroma is pronounced and consists of coffee/bitter chocolate laid over with a citrus, slightly orange scent.
The feel is very thick, rich and creamy. You definately know that you have something in your mouth when you drink this one.
Tastes are wonderful. a full rich bitter chocolate with toasted grains and lots of dark berries. I even found a hint of milk chocolate taste in here.
It's like a traditional stout but with more of everything including a hint of alcohol taste towards the end.
The finish is a lasting citrus sparkle which pulls everything together.
With a spicy beef stew on a cold winter night it would be hard to find anything better.
Long live Imperial Stouts!

Beer Quote of the day

You know, nobody eats in England. Three or four pints of English beer a night fills you. I can't say I'm very impressed with the food in America. it's all sort of bland. Like turkey sandwiches.

(Yes, beer is food.)
