Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale

Apparently from "Samuel Smith Old Brewery (Tadcaster)". Don't know if there is a "New Brewery".
Looks Lovely, dark garnet red coloured with a huge light tan coloured head, kind of rocky and shrinking as I watch but leaving a lot of lace.
In the aroma I get dark berries and molasses, a bit of dough and a touch of flowery citrus with maybe a hint of pine.
Feel is quite thick and rich. Quite creamy.
Tastes are really pleasant. Some dark berries, a nice hit of lightly roasted barely and bread dough, some faint hazelnut and a light flowery citrus taste to lift the sweet profile a bit. This is still a fairly sweet profile over all, but the light bitterness is enough to keep it from being cloying. The roasted malt and molasses tastes are subdued enough to allow a nice raisin and date taste to come through and last into the finish.
I am really enjoying this one, wish I had more than one.

Beer Quote of the day

In my opinion, most of the great men of the past were only there for the beer - the wealth, prestige and grandeur that went with the power.

— A. J. P. Taylor

(Drink enough beer and you think you have wealth, prestige and grandeur. Mostly the grandeur, or delusions there of!)
