Samuel Smith's Pale Ale
An absolutely HUGE off white head. It actually started foaming out of the bottle before I could start to pour. It settles fairly quickly, never quite disappearing, and leaves a nice lace.
Just watching the pour can be entertaining. Lot's of bubbles swirling in all directions. Fortunately it stops quickly and doesn't interfere with drinking time.
The beer is a dark clear red/copper colour. Quite attractive.
Aroma is toast, flowery citrus and raisins or dates.
Feel is nice and rich, quite creamy and full.
Tastes are really great. There is some toast and some raisin with a hint of molasses and brown sugar. A bright flowery and earthy hop taste with hints of citrus but subdued.
A touch of dryness in the finish along with a carbonation sparkle.
I could drink this one all evening and still want more. A great pale ale.
