Scotch Irish Brewing - Black Irish Plain Porter
Pours very dark, basically black with some red tints, from the look of the pour I suspect that it is cloudy but it is so dark I can't tell for sure. It has a huge and rocky tan head which shrinks fairly quickly leaving a decent lace ring.
The aroma is roasted coffee and dark chocolate, some hints of dark berry or raisin come through.
Feel is nicely thick and creamy with a good tingle on the tongue.
Tastes are surprisingly light for such a dark looking beer. The berry and raisin tastes are much more pronounced than I was expecting and there is a very nice citrus bite, not overwhelming at all but very refreshing. The roasted coffee and dark chocolate tastes are there along with a pronounced dark toast taste.
A lot of roasted grain tastes in this beer and the light citrus bitter/sour taste which finishes it is surprisingly refreshing.
I am enjoying this a lot.
