Session #35: New Beer's Resolutions
Ok, this months Sessions topic is from Beer for Chicks and is a natural for the year end.
Christina and Hallie want some reminiscing about the past year in beer.
The worst beers I had this year still jump out at me, Moosehead breweries "Cracked Canoe". I think the beer leaked out the crack and left only the water. Then there was the absolutely miserable yet mind bogglingly successful "Bud Light Lime". God awful stuff made for people who hate beer. Take an empty beer bottle, fill it with "Sprite" and you have the same taste. Here in Southern Ontario they couldn't keep the stuff in stock. I saw people driving away with pick-up trucks loaded with it. Makes me want to hang my head in shame.
On the good side of the ledger, I finally got my hands on some beers from Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel in Montreal. I had heard very good things about this brew-pub/craft brewery but had never been able to try any of their brews. This year I got to sample 3 separate beers from them and they were all great. I have to plan a weekend in Montreal to try a bunch more of them.
Just the names of these beers are wonderful. Peche Mortal (Mortal Sin) who doesn't want to commit one?
Corne du Diable (Horn of the Devil) or Dernière Volonté (Last Will) you just have to try them for the names alone.
Our hosts ask a few more questions as well so just to round things out,
1) What beer resolutions do you have for 2010?
Never drink Bud Light Lime again!
2) What are your beer regrets and embarrassing moments?
See No. 1.
3) What are you hoping to change about your beer experience in 2010?
I resolve to try to teach at least one person that Bud Light Lime barely even qualifies as beer.
Now that I have vented my spleen over that nameless non-beer I can head into the new year feeling better.
I hope everyone has a really great 2010 and that we all find some great new beers to enjoy.

Fortunately I've not been forced to try this one yet.
I'm sure I will have to in the next few months.
Immediately followed by a trip to Montreal I hope.
