This months Session is being hosted by Beer Search Party.
I have never, unfortunately, ever attended a release party, however every time I try a new beer I have great expectations. More often than not I am disappointed by so so beers or worse some horrible beers.
I did however stumble across a Lambic that I didn't really think was going to be all that great just because of the label. I know, I know, you should never judge a beer by it's cover. I am extremely fond of Belgian Ales and the St. Louis Gueuze Lambic did not disappoint.
This brew is very complex with the tastes running the gamut of flavors. It has sweetness, tartness and great berry undertones. I could really make a habit out of a beer like this.
There was a release party scheduled for today (April 1st) at Great Lakes Brewery in Etobicoke, (just on the edge of Toronto), but getting to the big smoke is always a problem for those of us in the boonies. Driving is out of the question. Impaired charges and and all that and carrying home cases of beer on the bus just doesn't seem to make it somehow. If I could only talk my wife or my beer partner Nemsis into being designated drivers my problem would be solved. I won't hold my breath on that one.
Some day I plan on attending a release party and I dearly hope it is in Belgium.
