BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
Sleeman Porter
Sleeman Porter
Pours a very dark, almost black colour with red tints. A medium but lasting light tan coloured head.
There are some light citrus and earth notes in the aroma, quite faint.
Feel is medium full, creamy and sparkling with a dry residue.
There are mild roasted malt and coffee tastes with a touch of citrus. Faint hints of chocolate can be found if you try hard enough. The roasted malt tastes are not nearly as forward as they should be.
The finish is a very dry bitterness.
I can drink it but it is not an outstanding porter. It seems like they have made all the tastes try to be more mainstream and therefore much less than a porter should be. I guess they think they will be able to sell a more "dumbed down" version easier than a full on porter.

Sleeman Porter
Pours a very dark reddish brown with a thick clumpy tan colored head.
Aroma is almost nonexistant. Mostly citrus from the hops with a bit of earthiness.
Medium mouth feel.
Very bitter at the start with some sour cherry and citrus that follows right through to the finish. The dry after taste has a miniscule sweetness on the back of the tongue.
I'm not impressed.
