BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
Southern Tier Dark Porter
Southern Tier Dark Porter
Pours a very dark rich black with hints of red at the edges. The head is medium sized and light tan colour, it lasts quite well and leaves a lot of lace in my glass.
Aroma is coffee and molasses with hints of bitter chocolate.
Feel is quite rich and creamy with no wateriness.
Taste are right down the middle of the Porter style except with a grapefruit citrus instead of the more earthy hops I usually find in a Porter. Lots of chocolate, bitter coffee and dates with a light citrus on top. Very pleasant and very full tasting. The coffee/chocolate roasted malt flavours are dominant but that nice citrus hop taste keeps the blend light and refreshing.
As porters go this is a keeper in my books. I was a little hesitant about the grapefruit citrus flavours at first but the more I sampled this the better I liked it.

Southern Tier Porter Dark
Pours dark as a Porter should. You can't see through it.
Coffee and chocolate are the aromas with a hint of citrus as it warms.
Medium mouth feel.
Sweet citus start with a creamy middle ending with a bitter chocolate finish.
Full of character.
I like it a bunch!
