About Bruce Ticknor
Stout
Stout.
Stout is very similar to Porter, in fact Porter is basically the father of the stout style.
A stout is a "bigger" version of porter, sometimes with a bit more alcohol, but more often with more pronounced flavours. The real difference is in the addition of roasted malt which provides more of a chocolate or coffee like flavour.
The appearance is very similar to Porter with deep brown red colours trending to almost black, and the head is thick and slightly off white.
Tastes are toasty with distinct flavours of chocolate, coffee and often caramel. Other flavours can include raisin or berry and sometimes a nuttiness.
Alcohol content ranges between 4.0% to 8.0%.
