Thomas Hardy's Ale
Some extra notes are needed for this one.
The Bottling year is 2008 the Edition number is T 18847
This brew can be aged for years and improves all the time. That is why the year and batch number are necessary.
There is virtually no head on this beer, it pours a thick, rich, cloudy, creamy chestnut colour.
The aroma is full of berries (raisins) with a strong alcohol overlay. It reminds me of Port wine.
The feel is very thick and rich, again reminding me of Port.
Taste are so full and complex that it is hard to define. Certainly there are lots of dark berry and raisin flavours with a bit of syrup or honey. There is a very light bitterness which comes across more as a dry tannin taste like that found in some strong red wines. I suspect that this aspect of the taste would mellow nicely during ageing.
The finish has a very light citrus tingle, just enough to begin to offset the strong overlay from the berry and alcohol tastes.
This is a sipping beer. It would make a great lead to a full meaty meal or could make a very nice dessert beer. Personally I find it just the thing on this very cold (-17C) day and a great way to start the New Year properly.

Thomas Hardy's Ale
Pours a chestnut brown color with absolutely no head.
Fruity alcohol aroma with some raisin and citrus.
Creamy mouth feel with alcohol being the first taste to hit the senses. Slight citrus and earth in the middle with a creamy citrus finish. I will have to store one of these in the fridge for a few months to see what happens. Not a bad beer but nothing special except for the alcohol content

Thomas Hardy's Ale
Rich brown in color.
Complex odor. Sweet toffee, chocolate and citrus aroma.
Very creamy. Tastes like bitter citrus peel followed by the warmth from the alcohol. This is one beer I won't be looking for again.
