BEER is GOOD!
About Bruce Ticknor
Trafalgar Oak Aged Rye
Trafalgar Oak Aged Rye
A very thin and short lived white head on a pretty dark copper coloured beer.
The aroma is fairly faint, some malty sweetness, a hint of tannin, and a bit of sourness. Not unpleasant at all.
The feel is quite full, round, and creamy.
Taste is another thing.
I found this to be a fairly harsh and rough edged beer, although I found that it grew on me as I sipped at it.
There are flavours of nuts and grass which are quickly buried by a harsh dry bitterness which almost burns the tongue. The aftertaste is fairly sweet and grassy with hints of grapefruit citrus but which leaves a rough sensitive patch on the middle of my tongue.
The rye taste is present but is subtle and not pronounced.
As I said, some of the tastes grow on me but I can't get past the burnt tongue feel. It almost feels like an allergic reaction so maybe I am not being fair to this brew.

Trafalgar Oak Aged Rye
Citrus, vanilla and hop aroma.
Pours a rose red color with an off white head.
Light bodied which the color belies, well balanced with a spicy dry kick. Just a little too bitter at the finish for me.
I'd like to give it another half star but the site won't let me.
