Unibroue - U Rousse (Red)

Another brew from Unibroue's new low end lineup.
Pours a clear dark red (garnet) colour with a thin and quickly reducing, slightly off-white head.
Aroma is almost non-existent, hints of mineral and caramel but very faint.
Feel is quite nice, not as full as a dark beer but much better than a mainstream.
Taste has the mineral (iron or hard water) flavour from the aroma and the subdued caramel taste. Hints (very faint) of some berries and light citrus hops.
It is not one of my favourite beers but then I have to compare it with other 'buck-a-bottle' beers and it is not bad at all.
Devoid and I were in Ottawa and Gatineau on a beer run and picked up this as a 'throw away' beer to have when our taste buds were burned out on good beer. It surprised us with it's decent quality for the price. It deserves to be compared with 'buck-a-bottle' beers here in Ontario and it wins hands down, especially since there are NO 'buck-a-bottle' beers still available (legal) in Ontario.

Beer Quote of the day

Whiskey's too tough, Champagne costs too much, Vodka puts my mouth in gear. I hope this refrain, Will help me explain, As a matter of fact, I like beer.
