Whistler Premium Export Lager

The clear bottle definitely worried me. I wish breweries wouldn't do that. Unless the beer is consumed immediately after it is bottled or you get really lucky and it turns out to be handled properly the risk of a skunked beer is far to high to justify the questionable marketing value of the clear bottle.
Anyway, enough ranting let's get on with drinking this beer.

The beer is an extremely clear golden colour, a little darker than the mainstream and darker than most lagers in general. The head is very full, bright white and reduces quickly but leaves a full and lasting rocky cap and lots of lace.
The aroma is heavily toward the malt side, lots of bread and grain aromas with a touch of a citrus smell coming through.
The feel is quite creamy, more than I was expecting and more than you will find in most lagers.
Tastes are also strongly on the malt side. Lots of bread, grain and brown sugar but with a nice touch of citrus hoppiness to balance it all. The citrus tends to linger and leave a dry feel on the tongue. In fact the dryness lasts quite a while and is almost like the tannin dryness you get from some oak aged wines.

Not bad at all. Not a world beater but definitely drinkable. Think I'll have another.

Beer Quote of the day

I recommend… bread, meat, vegetables and beer.

— Sophocles' philosophy of a moderate diet

(I don't care about "moderate", just give me more beer.)
