Zywiec Tatra Beer

The first sip of this beer truly surprised me, pleasantly!
It pours a slightly dark golden colour, much like any lager but perhaps slightly darker. The head is full and white but vanishes almost instantly leaving no lace.
Aroma is almost non-existent, a hint of hard water smell but that is about it.
The first sip displays a coffee note of roasted malt. How on earth did they get that into such a pale lager? There is a noticeable herbal hop presence and a full feel, a bit of fresh hay and honey round out the taste.
For a pale clear lager this had a lot more taste than I'd expected and I am still trying to figure out where that roasted malt taste comes from.
Guess I'll have to 'sample' a few more of these.

It seems like it's bittered

It seems like it's bittered with saazsque polish hops (lubelski). It is a dry beer but with a good mouth feel. It does have a good malt at the front. It seems like a good smash mix.

Sleeman Bock
Pours a dark amber with shades of red. A light tan coloured full and lasting head.
The aroma is mild, there are full malt aromas whit flowery hops, some mild citrus and sugar.
The feel is creamy, rich and full.
Tastes start with a full and rounded roasted malt, not overpowering, just full. The hop bitterness follows the sweeter malt and leaves a pleasant crisp aftertaste. There are mild tastes of brown sugar or caramel with a light citrus tingle. Just a faint hint of alcohol flavour comes through in the finish as the beer warms.
A very pleasant and drinkable beer, Sleeman's annual specials are often quite good.

Beer Quote of the day

No soldier can fight unless he is properly fed on beef and beer.

(I don't care if it's fried eggs, quiche, or cornflakes, as long as it comes with beer.)
