Zywiec Tatra Beer

The first sip of this beer truly surprised me, pleasantly!
It pours a slightly dark golden colour, much like any lager but perhaps slightly darker. The head is full and white but vanishes almost instantly leaving no lace.
Aroma is almost non-existent, a hint of hard water smell but that is about it.
The first sip displays a coffee note of roasted malt. How on earth did they get that into such a pale lager? There is a noticeable herbal hop presence and a full feel, a bit of fresh hay and honey round out the taste.
For a pale clear lager this had a lot more taste than I'd expected and I am still trying to figure out where that roasted malt taste comes from.
Guess I'll have to 'sample' a few more of these.

It seems like it's bittered

It seems like it's bittered with saazsque polish hops (lubelski). It is a dry beer but with a good mouth feel. It does have a good malt at the front. It seems like a good smash mix.

Renaissance Brewing - Elemental Porter

Pours black with a thin tan head. Too dark to even tell if it is cloudy or clear.
The aroma is coffee and bitter dark chocolate.
Feel is medium full, a bit watery but creamy.
The tastes are fairly basic, bitter dark chocolate and coffee with a very light citrus coming through in the finish. The citrus is really not quite enough to clean up the taste.
It's not a bad porter but I have had many better.
It does go really well with Blue Cheese and fair with Stilton.

Beer Quote of the day

Why is American beer served cold? So you can tell it from urine.

(Not true anymore, thankfully.)
