Zywiec Tatra Beer

The first sip of this beer truly surprised me, pleasantly!
It pours a slightly dark golden colour, much like any lager but perhaps slightly darker. The head is full and white but vanishes almost instantly leaving no lace.
Aroma is almost non-existent, a hint of hard water smell but that is about it.
The first sip displays a coffee note of roasted malt. How on earth did they get that into such a pale lager? There is a noticeable herbal hop presence and a full feel, a bit of fresh hay and honey round out the taste.
For a pale clear lager this had a lot more taste than I'd expected and I am still trying to figure out where that roasted malt taste comes from.
Guess I'll have to 'sample' a few more of these.

Péché Mortel (Mortal Sin)

Pours very, very dark, almost black although I think it's just a very deep brown. Hard to tell. Dark days of fall and all. The head is a deep tan and the lace is almost brown.
The aroma is dark chocolate and molasses as well as alcohol. Go figure?
Mouth feel is quite thick and rich. It definitely leaves a coating in the mouth.
The aromas don't lie with this one. Dark chocolate and molasses are the first to hit and then the alcohol but in the finish is that nice hint of citrus that always begs for more. Very nice indeed.
I would like to get more of this breweries libations.

Dieu du Ciel - Péché Mortel

Pours thick and rich, very dark, black with red tints. A fairly thin tan head.
It smells like burnt coffee and berries.
Tastes are much better than the smells. Coffee and chocolate with dark berries like raisins and plums.
It is very full feeling in the mouth, very rich.
Some light lemony tastes and a bit of alcohol flavour.
Almost a meal on it's own, at least as filling as a bowl of soup.

Beer Quote of the day

I like beer. On occasion, I will even drink beer to celebrate a major event such as the fall of communism or the fact that the refrigerator is still working.
