Zywiec Tatra Beer

The first sip of this beer truly surprised me, pleasantly!
It pours a slightly dark golden colour, much like any lager but perhaps slightly darker. The head is full and white but vanishes almost instantly leaving no lace.
Aroma is almost non-existent, a hint of hard water smell but that is about it.
The first sip displays a coffee note of roasted malt. How on earth did they get that into such a pale lager? There is a noticeable herbal hop presence and a full feel, a bit of fresh hay and honey round out the taste.
For a pale clear lager this had a lot more taste than I'd expected and I am still trying to figure out where that roasted malt taste comes from.
Guess I'll have to 'sample' a few more of these.

It seems like it's bittered

It seems like it's bittered with saazsque polish hops (lubelski). It is a dry beer but with a good mouth feel. It does have a good malt at the front. It seems like a good smash mix.

A medium, short lived dark tan head on a very dark, virtualy black beer.
There is the aroma of coffee and chocolate.
The taste is of a bit of citrus with a lot of creamy coffee and chocolate.
The beer has a very creamy texture with a light sparkle at the end.
It has enough bitterness to balance the sweet coffee/chocolate taste.
All in all this is a very well blended and balanced beer and an excellent porter.

I will buy this again often, especially in cooler weather.

Pours very dark with a light brown head. Smells like coffe and something like liquorice. It's also much creamier than I am used too. I really don't like this beer at all. Much too bitter for me.

Beer Quote of the day

Oh I have been to Ludlow fair, and left my necktie God knows where. And carried half way home, or near, pints and quarts of Ludlow beer.

— Alfred Edward Housman
